We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist III/IV to join our Immunology and Respiratory Diseases Department located in Ridgefield, CT. The successful candidate, with a demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment, will work within the disease positioning group to develop in vitro fibrotic and immunological assays focused on skin, lung and intestinal and will contribute to a passionate team of scientists striving to build a strong portfolio of innovative small molecule, biologics and other emerging modality based therapeutics.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Independently or with minimal supervision design and conduct experiments aimed at target identification and validation for autoimmune/inflammatory disease indications.
  • Independently develop and implement molecular and cell biology assays to identify and characterize targets, and small molecule and biologic drug candidates.
  • Acquire and analyze data, document results and maintain laboratory notebook according to BIPI guidelines and interpret outcomes and propose appropriate follow-up activities.
  • Report and treat scientific data with the highest level of integrity and ethics.
  • Independently operate and be responsible for lab equipment, troubleshoot effectively.
  • Communicate results in written documents and oral presentations. Contribute to authoring protocols, procedures and technical reports.
  • Perform literature searches and extract relevant information from published protocols, apply to projects; attend scientific meetings; contribute to continuous improvements.
  • Maintain excellent communication with supervisor, lab members, project teams and department and be capable of effectively working in a matrix management setting.
  • Comply with all training and operating procedures in accordance with all mandated SOPs, policies and guidelines.
  • Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner.
  • Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.
  • Support and embrace diversity as an employee and representative of BIPI.
Scientist III Requirements
  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with seven-plus (7+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in establishing various complex in vitro human primary cell assays. Expertise in developing fibrosis relevant co-culture assays and developing novel functional read-outs is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and implementing Immune cell-based functional and biochemical assays is required.
  • Proficient in multiplex ELISAs. Experience in flow cytometry and data analysis software is highly desired.
  • Expertise in RNA isolation methods and qPCR is desired. Knowledge of RNA seq methodologies and analysis is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven track record of high research accountability and productivity both independently with minimal supervision and within a team setting in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent agility to take on multiple tasks and effective time management skills
  • Possess strong written and oral communications skills and ability to prepare and present data to project teams and research management as required.
  • Experience in working in a matrix environment and supporting multiple projects at same time.
Scientist IV Requirements :
  • Master's Degree with 6+ years' experience in a related scientific discipline or Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years' experience in immunological and/or respiratory diseases research or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Strong knowledge and experience in establishing various complex in vitro human primary cell assays. Expertise in developing fibrosis relevant co-culture assays and developing novel functional read-outs is highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and implementing Immune cell-based functional and biochemical assays is required.

  • Experience in high content cellular imaging and analysis is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven track record of high research accountability and productivity both independently with minimal supervision and within a team setting in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent agility to take on multiple tasks and effective time management skills
  • Possess strong written and oral communications skills and ability to prepare and present data to project teams and research management as required.
  • Experience in working in a matrix environment and supporting multiple projects at same time
  • Ability to provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel
  • Creative in developing novel assays and implement new scientific ideas to impact the project.
