Job Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Accountant is accountable for analysis of the Financial Statements for two plants and the consolidated results - Mississauga and North York. The individual will ensure the accuracy of the financial statement close process, performance of internal controls (including account reconciliations), analysis and timely, insightful, action-oriented variance reporting and overall leading-edge financial support.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Consolidation of financials between Mississauga and North York plants, ensuring financials accurately represented;
  • Provide analysis and commentary to financial results (target audience includes Corporate Finance and Plant Operations);
  • Preparation and analysis of key operational and financial reports as part of monthly packages;
  • Identify opportunities to improve/expand plant reporting to enable better business decisions;
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations including, but not limited to capital assets, trade spend and other liability accruals, intercompany and cash (bank);
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis as required by sales, plant manager, business performance and other departments;
  • Provide recommendations for streamlining existing processes and system to help generate synergies between locations.


  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA) is required;
  • 3 years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment (food industry is an asset);
  • A diploma/degree in accounting or finance and related account reconciliation experience is required;
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and advanced knowledge with Excel.
