Our client is a rapidly growing legal tech company who, after a successful roll out of the business in Scandinavia, are now launching in the UK as part of a long-term plan to grow the business throughout the rest of Europe and United States.

This company is a one-stop digital shop for individuals and SMEs for legal documentation creation, contract management/archiving, e-signing and legal advice. Their aim is to democratise the legal industry and make access to legal contracts, and the management of these contracts, easier and more cost effective. Individuals or companies can draw up high-quality contracts and other legal documentation either independently or guided by their in-house legal team.

This company is growing fast at an annual rate of 70% and in line with this growth, they are looking to hire a lawyer who will be responsible for creating legal content for the platform pre-launch, growing the documentation portfolio post-launch and broadly advising the business as in-house counsel during its growth.

We are now looking for a Senior Legal Cousnsel circa 3+ years PQE to join the newly formed team and who will report directly to the UK Managing Director (also a lawyer and ex-General Counsel at a previous SaaS business). The successful candidate's role will encompass:

• Designing and creating the legal content on the platform (contracts and templates);
• Draft and negotiate of commercial agreements pertaining to the business as it grows, liaising with sales, marketing and senior management as and when required;
• Manage other in-house legal matters (e.g. corporate, employment, data protection, intellectual property, commercial dispute resolution);
• Manage a more junior lawyer (legal counsel) and nurture their forward trajectory;
• Provide advisory services growing client base as part of the 'ask a lawyer' service.

What skill-sets are we looking for:

• UK qualified lawyer, either from a law firm or an in-house team;
• Company-commercial law experience;
• Tech-related experience would be a real bonus;
• Excellent academic qualifications and communication skills, both verbally and written.

As this is a start-up in the UK, you must be someone who has an entrepreneurial spirit, and thrives on working in a fast-paced tech-driven industry; a self-starter, someone who will roll up their sleeves to get things done and work collaboratively with their legal and non-legal colleagues.

In return the client will offer flexible hours, with the potential to work remotely after an initial 'settling in' period of 2-3 days per week in London over 2-3 month period, and a 'fast-track' to 'Head of Legal' position in the coming year(s) after further business/team growth.
